At the Natural History Museum Potsdam visitors get acquainted with Brandenburg´s fauna on 650 sqm on four floors. The exhibitions of the museum inform about the diversity of insects, fishes, birds and mammals. Apart from the female brown bear at the foyer there are other prepared animals as a wolf, an elk and others to be experienced on the different floors. A large aquarium in the basement with a 50 years tradition houses more than 40 native fish species including pike, sturgeon and wels catfish. The exhibition “In Human Footprints — Biological Invasions” explains knowledge about the worldwide phenomenon of new fungal, faunal and floral species spreading out into foreign natural habitats.

Temporary exhibitions complete the programme. Please find up to date information online. The Natural History Museum Potsdam is one of four participating partners offering the MUSEUM combined ticket. The Natural History Museum Potsdam is based in the building that once served as the House of Nobles in the Brandenburg region of Zauche (Ständehaus der Zauche). The building is part of a precious historic architectural ensemble and was built by Georg Christian Unger in 1770. It was damaged during the Second World War and rebuilt in the 1970s and early 1980s. In 2005 the baroque front garden was added. The building is recognized a perfect example of the cultural usage of listed houses.

The Natural History Museum Potsdam is one of four participating partners offering a combined ticket, the MUSEUM Kombikarte.
